Our Story

A petite revolution

Dewey was created because petite women deserve clothes designed for their proportions - not simply made smaller.

Founded in 2020 by 5’2” designer Chamiah Dewey, DEWEY creates stylish, sustainable, ready-to-wear clothing specifically for women 4ft–5’2”, across a wide range of sizes and body shapes.

We know how frustrating it is when sleeves are too long, waistlines sit in the wrong place, or trousers need altering. That’s why every DEWEY piece is designed from the ground up for shorter proportions; so you can shop straight off the rack.

Our sizing and fit system has been developed using real data from over 100 petite women, helping us create clothes that fit better, feel better and reduce the need for returns.

Because being petite shouldn’t mean compromising on style, comfort or fit.

At DEWEY, we believe doing business well means doing business with heart, care and integrity. We consider the people behind every decision: from the fabrics and finishes we choose, to our packaging and the partners we work with.

Our petite community is at the heart of everything we do. We listen, we learn and we advocate for women who have historically been overlooked by fashion.

Quality matters, too. From precise, data-led fits to thoughtfully chosen materials and long-lasting products, we don’t believe in cutting corners. We constantly look for ways to make things better; even in the smallest details.

In a world becoming increasingly driven by AI and technology, we’ll always value craftsmanship, imagination, human connection and genuine relationships.

If it doesn’t add something positive to the people it touches, we don’t put it out into the world.

Inclusivity

Petite shouldn’t mean limited.

DEWEY is the most height- and size-inclusive petite fashion brand on the market. While many petite brands stop at a 28” inseam or UK 14, we go down to 15” inseams, with almost every length in between, and up to a UK 18; with plans to expand further.

With around 42 million adults across the UK and US measuring just 5ft or under, there is a huge community that mainstream fashion continues to overlook.

We believe height matters just as much as size. That’s why we design specifically around shorter proportions, using real customer insight to create clothing for different heights, sizes and body shapes.

We’re building a petite fashion industry where nobody has to compromise on style, confidence or dignity because of their height.

PS, oh and this goes without saying; we will always include women of all different backgrounds and abilities, internally and externally to represent Dewey.

At DEWEY, we believe sustainable fashion should be accessible to petite women; and we’re committed to doing better at every stage of our journey.

We consider people, planet and product in every decision we make: working with SEDEX-approved manufacturing partners, choosing considered and durable fabrics, and continually reviewing our packaging and processes to reduce our impact.

We’re not perfect, and we won’t pretend to be. Instead, we believe in transparency, meaningful progress and constantly improving.

Every DEWEY order also helps protect five indigenous rainforest trees through our partnership with One Tribe.

Being petite affects more than trouser length. Waistlines, rises, sleeves, proportions and placements all change with height. We design with these differences in mind, so you can shop straight off the rack. Petite fashion shouldn’t stop at one height or size. From 15” to 27” inseams and sizes up to UK 18, we’re pushing the boundaries of what petite fashion can offer; and we’re not stopping there.
